PRODUCING QUALITY HONEY FROM BARK HIVES David Wainwright email: mail@tropicalforest.com In 1983 I arrived
in Zambia as a volunteer with the task of training beekeepers to increase honey
production and quality. I had been recruited on the basis of my experience as a
commercial beekeeper in the UK. 20 years later I am still working with these
beekeepers, and their children, who are producing ever increasing amounts of
honey and beeswax. My commercial beekeeping experience however did not prove to
be very useful, the only benefit this knowledge gave me was to realise that my
modern methods would be no more profitable for the Zambian beekeepers than their
own traditional methods. |
